How many employees do I need to use your services?
There’s no minimum or maximum. I work with businesses of all sizes. In fact, it’s ideal to get HR support in place just before you hire your first employee, so everything’s set up properly from day one. That way, you’re confident you’re compliant and giving your new team member the best start.
Do I need ongoing HR support, or can I just get help when I need it?
You can do either! I offer flexible options, from ad hoc advice and one-off projects to fully outsourced HR support on a retainer. Whether you need a quick contract or long-term help managing your people, I’m here when you need me.
What types of HR services do you offer?
I can help with everything from writing contracts and handbooks to recruitment, onboarding, training, and tricky employee situations. I also offer audits and HR support for restructures or disciplinaries — basically, if it involves people at work, I can probably help.
Do you work with small businesses and start ups?
Absolutely! A big part of my work is supporting small businesses and start ups. I know the HR challenges that come with growing a team from scratch and can help you build solid foundations without loads of jargon or red tape.
Can you help if I already have employees and realise I need to sort the HR stuff out now?
Yes, 100%! It’s never too late to get things on track. I’ll help you get everything in order — contracts, handbooks, policies, and any urgent issues without making you feel bad about what hasn’t been done yet.
How much do your services cost?
It depends on what you need. Some clients prefer pay-as-you-go, others go for a monthly retainer. Some want a lot of input and some just want a guiding hand. I’ll always be upfront and transparent with pricing, with no surprise fees. Just get in touch for a chat and a tailored quote.
Do you offer support with Health and Safety?
No but I have some brilliant contacts which I can recommend.
Do you only look after customers based in Harrogate?
Nope. A lot of my work can be done remotely so I would cover anyone in England. However, I really value face-to-face connection and prefer to meet my clients in person and see their workspaces to understand what they are all about, so being Yorkshire-based is best for that service.
Do you have any specialisms?
I offer generalist HR support across multiple industries. However, I have specialist knowledge in the Early Years sector so would be an especially good fit for nurseries and pre-schools.
How do I know if I need HR support?
If you have one employee, you have legal obligations to them. Understanding what those obligations are can be tough for businesses and often they miss a thing or two which all too often lands them in hot water. If you are unsure, I am very friendly and will always be willing to have a chat with you.
I’m stuck in a contract with Croner/Bright HR/Peninsula/Citation and would like to use you instead, what should I do?
They don’t make it easy to leave and you may have to wait it out. Best thing to do is give me a call/email and we can chat through it.
We already have HR employees working within our company, can we still work with you?
Absolutely! Even if you already have an HR person or team in place, I can still support you. Sometimes internal teams need a bit of extra help — whether that’s a second opinion, advice on a tricky situation, or just another pair of hands during a busy period. It can also be really valuable to bring in an external perspective, especially when relationships are strained or you want to make sure decisions are fair and unbiased.
Can you provide HR cover while our HR person is on maternity leave?
Yes, absolutely. I can step in to provide HR cover while your team member is on maternity leave. Whether you need someone to fully manage things in their absence or just keep things ticking over. I’ll work closely with you to understand how things are usually run and make sure there’s a smooth handover when they return.
Can you come into our workplace in person to support us?
Yes, I can! If you’d like in-person support, I’m happy to come on-site. Whether that’s for a half day here and there or a regular day each week. Just let me know what works best for you, and we can make a plan that suits your needs.
